GINGERBREAD HOUSES FROM ZACH'S PASTRIES MEAN HOMES SWEET HOMES FOR LOCAL FAMILIES

This December, for the fourth year in a row, Zach's Cakes and Pastries of Distinction's Northeast Philadelphia retail shop at 6419 Rising Sun Avenue and Zach's Delectable Necessities at 533 N. 22nd Street will be twice as sweet. For each of these individually hand-decorated houses purchased during the season, Zach's will make a donation to South Philadelphia Habitat for Humanity.

These gingerbread houses are designed by European Master Pastry Chef Emmerich Zach, who has used as his model the graceful A-framed chalets of his native Austria. Each house is made from a traditional Old World lebkuchen recipe and is individually constructed and decorated. This year, especially for the Habitat for Humanity fund-raising promotion, Emmerich Zach has also created a limited edition deluxe gingerbread house, each of which he will handcraft and decorate himself.

Zach's gingerbread houses are available in small (10" x 10") and large (12" x 12") sizes for $35.00 and $50.00, respectively. The limited edition deluxe house is 12" x 16", costs $125.00, and makes a memorable family or corporate gift. To make this deluxe gift twice as special, Zach's will send each recipient's or company's name to Habitat for acknowledgement that a donation has been made in their honor.

South Philadelphia Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to providing affordable homes for low-income families and, at the same time, helping rebuild the city's neighborhoods.
