MEET JOAN ZACH: DIRECTOR, OPERATIONS AND MARKETING
 Since 1990, Joan Zach has handled the business side of Zach’s Cakes and Pastries of Distinction, founded by her husband Emmerich in 1981. In this capacity, she oversees general business operations, finances and sales and marketing strategies while also creating a smooth transition of closing their two retail locations and moving forward into their creative cake design business.
Born in West Chester, Pennsylvania, the1962 graduate of Drexel University has an extensive sales, marketing and management background. Prior to joining Zach’s, she worked for more than 20 years at Delaware Management Company (now a subsidiary of Lincoln Financial Group) and a few years with WSI Information Technologies.
Active members of the community, the Zachs sponsored and participated in a wide range of business and charitable events including: Les Dames d’Escoffier Annual Fundraiser, The Leukemia Society’s Annual Bridesmaids Ball, Miss Philadelphia Scholarship Pageant, the Mayor’s Annual City Hall Gala, SCANTASTIC, Jean Ruddy Dance Group and Performance Garage, Maternity Care Coalition and the MOMobile, Historic Rittenhouse Fall Festival, Eastern State Penitentiary Bastille Day Festivities and Friends of Eastern State Walk and Run, and Lawndale Business Association Halloween Walk and Harvest Festival. The Zachs have also developed their own promotions to support charitable organizations, including an annual holiday gingerbread house fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity.
Ms. Zach is a member of the Retailer’s Bakery Association (RBA), Les Dames d’Escoffier, the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce..
